SUMMARY:Two defendants, husband and wife, were charged with conspiracy; peonage; forced labor; document bondage; harboring, aiding, and abetting an alien, and false statements. Elizabeth Jackson arranged to bring a Filipino woman to the United States, took her passport, and coerced her labor by threatening to turn her in to authorities and have her prosecuted violation of immigration laws. Jackson forced the victim to work over 16 hours a day for less than $400 per month for her labor. Elizabeth Jackson pleaded guilty to forced labor. She was sentenced to 36 months in federal prison. James Jackson pleaded guilty to conspiracy, and was sentenced to 200 hours of community service and ordered to pay $5000 as a fine.
