SUMMARY:The victim, a 21-year-old woman, went out with the intention of prostituting herself. After being dropped off near El Cajon Boulevard in San Diego, California, an area known as the "Blade"; the victim encountered Tillis. Tillis asked her to get into the car, and then told her to take off her clothes, which the victim did because she was afraid. For the span of around 24 hours, Tillis threatened, slapped, sexually assaulted and otherwise coerced the victim, and on multiple occasions transported her to a prostitution area for the purpose of engaging in prostitution. She was told she needed to make the defendant $1,000 before she would be allowed to go home. At trial, defendant was convicted of human trafficking, pandering by encouraging and sexual penetration by a foreign object.
