SUMMARY:Action brought by 19 H-2A guestworkers from Mexico that were trafficked into America to work in strawberry fields of Defendants. Upon arrival, defendants visas and documents were confiscated to restrict them from travelling. Defendants also paid workers less than minimum wage and had several instances of battery and threats against the workers to maintain the forced labor. The workers escaped and filed a civil suit, but this suit was stayed after a motion by the government involving persuin criminal litigation against the defendants.
