SUMMARY:

Mr. Broussard and the other defendants were charged with marketing the children in an attempt to gain corporate sponsorships. Supposedly the children were beaten, starved, poorly schooled, and constantly threatened. Mr. Broussard founded Ecclesia in Los Angeles to help children in the Watts district through training and schooling. In 1987, the group moved to Oregon where Dayna, Broussard's 8 year old daughter, was beaten to death by four of the commune's members. 53 children were taken into state custody after Danya's death.
