SUMMARY:

Defendant Deonte Santos recruited a 12-year-old Elk Grove girl to work as a prostitute in Sacramento. Shortly thereafter, Santos transported the victim to Los Angeles, where she also engaged in prostitution, and then flew her to Seattle, Washington to meet with a "pimp," who was a friend of his. The victim was located by law enforcement after a missing persons report was filed.

Defendant Anna Maria Kapodistrias entered in to a plea bargain and was sentenced to 21 months in prison and a $100 special assessment. Defendant Deonte Santos was found guilty on both counts by a jury and was sentenced to 151 months imprisonment.
