APPEAL STILL PENDING?:
SUMMARY:The victims, two Moldovan women, were part of a J-1 visa program. Defendants promised the victims a position in a management training program. Instead the victims were forced to live in an apartment several miles away from their place of employment and were employed in unskilled labor positions such as cashiers, food prep workers, and cleaning crew workers. The Defendants controlled the lives of the victims through coercion and threats of deportation. Defendant International Student Exchange was dismissed with prejudice. All claims against Wendco and HCMS were stayed pending the outcome of arbitration, as the employment contract the victims had signed contained a valid, binding arbitration agreement.
