Urban Communities Clinic

The Urban Communities Clinic (UCC) provides transactional legal services to groups engaged in neighborhood-based community development.  The UCC works with a wide range of groups in the Detroit metropolitan area.  Since its creation in 1991, the Clinic has helped organizations build over one thousand units of affordable housing in Detroit.  Students are responsible for all aspects of client representation; they interview, plan, counsel, negotiate, draft, problem solve, and advocate.  As counsel to community-based organizations, the UCC helps build institutions and sustain effective organizations that empower their participants and provide needed services and opportunities.
