Public Interest and Government Career Fairs
Many law school students have found internships and jobs through career fairs. Every year, OCP provides funding for Michigan Law School students to travel to such events. OCP will reimburse MLS students the cost of the registration and a portion of the transportation cost. For details, see Chapter 3, Section II of Making a Difference: A Law Student's Guide to Public Service Vol. I: Public Interest Careers.
- EJW's Fair, held every October in DC, has been called the public service student's OCI. This is one of the largest public service career fairs with over 130 public interest employers, practitioners, and leaders in attendance. The 2011 Fair will take place October 21 and 22 at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, DC.
Every October before the Fair OCP presents a panel of students that attended the Fair the prior year called Equal Justice Works Conference and Career Fair Tips and Strategies. Check OCP's Programs page for session information.
- MPILCC enables employers from public interest and government organizations and J.D. students to gather for a day of interviews and informal networking. It is held at Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago the first Saturday in February. Registration takes place in late November/early December. Deadlines are strictly enforced so watch M Law Live announcements and/or join the OCP public service student listserv for registration information late in the Fall semester.
