More Fire Alarm Testing!

It turns out that the approval process for a new life/safety system is iterative…

Our first inspection of the life/safety system produced a number of things that needed to be modified or added, so we will be testing the system again and having another inspection by the state Fire Marshal.

Tomorrow, Friday, January 14, we will do a pre-test of the system from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m.

On Monday, January 17, the inspection will run between 10 a.m. and noon.

On both days the system horns and strobes will be activated intermittently—you will hear the alarm. There is no need to evacuate during these test periods. Please note carefully the time and date of these tests; should the alarm sound at ANY other time, you must evacuate the building.

In the next update, I will tell you a little bit about what is going on inside the new buildings.

Welcome Back!

Very Important Fire Alarm Testing Update

The State Fire Marshal will be inspecting our new life/safety system this Friday, January 7. He will be checking our system from 10:30 a.m. until noon to ensure that it functions properly throughout Legal Research and Hutchins Hall. Alarms will sound, strobes will flash, and doors are that are magnetized (stairwell enclosures, new hallway doors) will close as soon as the alarm is activated. During this system check there is NO NEED TO EVACUATE THE BUILDING (but you may wish to schedule an early lunch to avoid the noise).

Please be aware that we will always notify you in advance if we are testing and there is no need to evacuate; at all other times, or if, coincidentally, you happen to notice any signs of an emergency, err on the side of caution and evacuate.
