What has changed around campus since you were a student? A lot! From the past decade alone, the roster of completed construction at the University includes the Museum of Art renovation and expansion, the Cardiovascular Center, the Walgreen Drama Center, Weill Hall, the new Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital, North Quad Residential Complex, and of course, the Law School’s new academic building (South Hall) and the Robert B. Aikens Commons. Check out these new landmarks and spot your old favorites on this tour of Ann Arbor, focusing on the U-M campus.

Every lawyer’s favorite on-campus housing has gotten a face lift. See the results of the yearlong renovation of the student rooms, part of which are now known as the Charles T. Munger Residences in the Lawyers Club. Designed to maintain the architectural integrity of the Law Quad while providing modern upgrades, the renovations include revitalized living spaces and common areas, as well as updated plumbing, heating, ventilation, technology, accessibility, and safety features.

You’ll also tour South Hall, which was dedicated in September 2012. The building features classrooms for small seminars as well as large lectures, the Jeffries Student Lounge, the Miller Canfield Corner, and offices for faculty, clinics, and administrative units.

Who Are We?: A Report on the Results of the Michigan Law Alumni Survey

Michigan is the only American law school that regularly has surveyed its alumni about their careers. After an eight-year hiatus, Michigan Law recently resumed this life/job satisfaction survey. Prof. J. J. Prescott will review initial survey findings and engage the audience in a lively discussion regarding the changes in alumni lives and careers.


Featured Faculty Speaker:  Carl Schneider, ‘79

Schneider is the Chauncey Stillman Professor of Law and professor of internal medicine. He will be discussing mandated disclosure, which in his book, More Than You Wanted to Know: The Failure of Mandated Disclosure (Princeton U Press, 2014), he describes as probably the most used and least successful form of regulation in America today.


Presentation of the 2014 Distinguished Alumni Awards

A new tradition continues at Michigan Law: the presentation of the Distinguished Alumni Award. The award recognizes extraordinary alumni who, through making an exceptional impact on their professions, communities, and/or Michigan Law, have exemplified the values and ethos of the University of Michigan Law School. A reception with the awardees will follow the presentation.
