Who: We will be working with SOME (So Others May Eat) a community-based organization that provides care to the homeless and extremely poor citizens in the District of Columbia. SOME helps to provide food, clothing, and health care to those they serve. In addition, SOME offers services such as counseling, job training, and addiction treatment to help combat homelessness.

What: Our volunteer project will include landscaping, interior painting, or other indoor maintenance at one of their residential properties. Expect to get your hands and clothes dirty by the end of the day!

When: Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Volunteers should arrive at 8:45 a.m.

Where: Jordan House, 1509 N. Capitol Street, NE, Washingon, DC 20002

What to bring: Volunteers should bring work gloves, and are free to bring a water bottle, sunscreen, hat, and rain gear (depending on weather). SOME will supply all the tools we will need to work. Close-toed shoes are advised because you may be working with sharp tools. Volunteers will get dirty and should be prepared for warm, cold, or wet weather.

Additional details: Please note that you are welcome to bring your family and/or a guest to this volunteer event. Children are also welcome with a parent or guardian. Lunch will be provided by the Office of Development and Alumni Relations at the end of the volunteer shift.
