Greening of Detroit

Who:  The Greening of Detroit 7Mile/Mound Tree Planting in partnership with the USDA/USFS Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (EAB). We will work with Greening to plant 136 trees to help beautify the neighborhood, improve the urban environment, health, and quality of life for those who live there. The Greening's mission is to guide and inspire others to create a "greener" Detroit through planting trees.

When: Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Please arrive by 8:45 a.m.

   We will work with The Greening of Detroit to plant 136 trees on Dwyer and St. Louis Streets in Detroit.

Where:  Volunteers should meet at 19300 Dwyer St., Detroit, 48234 (near 7 Mile and Mound). Look for The Greening of Detroit banner and welcome table. Team Leaders Shelly Miller '92 and Yasmin Elias '95 will be there to greet you.

What to Bring:  The Greening of Detroit will provide the tools and plant material. Volunteers should dress for the weather in clothes they don't mind getting dirty. Wear closed toe, rigid shoes (either tennis shoes or work boots). Bring work gloves and water to drink. 
Additional Information: We will plant rain or shine. Children of all ages are allowed, however, they must have an adult chaperon with them at all times. Lunch will be provided by the Office of Development and Alumni Relations at the end of our volunteer shift.
