Who: We will be volunteering with the Food Bank of the Rockies. FBR provides food for more than 350,000 people annually and is the largest private hunger-relief organization in the state of Colorado. Last year, LBR distributed 46.5 million pounds of food, enough to provide more than 106,000 meals each day to children, seniors, and families in need.

What: Volunteers will be working in the reclamation area where food and other items are processed from both food drives and grocery rescues. Volunteers help inspect, clean, sort, and box these items before they are distributed to clients via agencies (pantries, soup kitchens, etc.). This area requires attention to detail and is a low-impact/physical area, though it does require standing the entire shift.

Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Please arrive by 8:45 a.m.

Where: Food Bank of the Rockies, 10700 E. 45th Ave., Denver, 80239.

What to bring: Volunteers must wear closed toe shoes and a shirt with sleeves (no tank tops or flip flops) to volunteer at the warehouse. If desired, please bring a water bottle for your personal use during the volunteer activity.

Additional information: The minimum age to volunteer is 14 with an adult, 16 on your own. Lunch will be provided by the Office of Development and Alumni Relations at the end of our shift.
