Who: We will be volunteering at the ACFB in their Product Rescue Center (PRC). The mission of the ACFB is to fight hunger by engaging, educating, and empowering the community of metro Atlanta and north Georgia counties.
What: Volunteers will be working in the Food Bank’s warehouse, sorting and shelving donated food and packing food boxes that are distributed to senior citizens and other persons qualifying for food assistance.
When: Saturday, May 4, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Please arrive at 8:45 a.m. ready-to-work.
Where: Atlanta Community Food Bank, 732 Joseph E. Lowery Blvd., NW. Directions are available on our website. After parking, follow the signs to the PRC entrance located at the rear of the building. The parking lot at ACFB is locked at the end of each volunteer shift. Please remove your car from the lot after your volunteer shift has concluded.
What to bring: Please wear appropriate attire. No open-toed shoes are allowed in the warehouse at any time. No flip-flops, sandals or high heels are allowed. Dress in comfortable clothing and wear comfortable shoes. If desired, please bring a water bottle for your personal use while volunteering.
Please fill out the volunteer waiver form and bring with you to the event.
Additional information: Children eight and older are welcome to volunteer. Due to safety concerns, no one under the age of eight is allowed in the warehouse. Also, any volunteer under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent.
Volunteers must be able to lift 5 – 40 lbs. and stand for prolonged periods of time. This project may require sorting frozen or refrigerated items such as meats and dairy products. Gloves and aprons are provided on-site for volunteers, as needed.
Lunch will be provided onsite by the Office of Development and Alumni Relations at the end of the volunteer shift.
