Growing Power, Inc., is a national nonprofit organization and land trust that strives to support people from diverse backgrounds and the environments in which they live by helping to provide equal access to healthy, high-quality, safe and affordable food for people in all communities.  Growing Power implements this mission by providing hands-on training, on-the-ground demonstrations, outreach and technical assistance through the development of Community Food Systems that help people grow, process, market and distribute food in a sustainable manner.
Time: 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Publicolor, is a nonprofit organization that paints at various public schools in the different boroughs of New York City.  Publicolor’s mission includes improving education in youth by promoting an imaginative use of color in school buildings.  Supported by volunteers, they transform at least nine struggling schools every year.
Time: 10:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

SOME (So Others May Eat) is a community-based organization that provides care to the homeless and extremely poor citizens in the District of Columbia. SOME helps to provide food, clothing, and health care to those they serve.  In addition, SOME offers services such as counseling, job training, and addiction treatment to help combat homelessness.

Project Open Hand, is a nonprofit organization which provides food and nourishment to people with serious illness and to seniors in San Francisco and Alameda County. 
Time: 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Volunteers should arrive at 10:45 a.m.  Orientation begins promptly at 11 a.m. followed by lunch provided by Project Open Hand.  We will work until 4 p.m.
