If you would like to get involved with the planning of the African American Alumni Reunion, please send an email to Lara Furar, Director of Alumni Relations at firstname.lastname@example.org
All of the committees are actively recruiting members and need your help!
The purpose of the committee is to plan the content for the weekend of events, with schedules, sessions (social and substantive) to be determined by the committee in collaboration with the larger planning group and in consultation with the alumni relations office. Sessions will include speakers and panels, as well as social events.
Goals of the participation committee are (1) to reach as many African American alumni with news of the reunion, and (2) to encourage attendance in Ann Arbor in March. Volunteers will reach out to fellow alumni with phone calls and emails.
The participation committee works in conjunction with the marketing efforts of the alumni relations office. These marketing efforts will include communications such as save the date messages, invitations, and general promotions.
The goal of the sponsorship committee is to raise funds to underwrite the production of the reunion weekend. Monies raised will provide immediate assistance in a number of ways:
- complimentary event registration fees for current and prospective students
- reduced registration fees for recent graduates and alumni working within the public sector
- general programming and continuing legal education sessions
Additionally, any proceeds after expenses will be given to the Alden J. “Butch” Carpenter Memorial Scholarship Fund.
