"The faculty are highly impressive and come from a variety of disciplines to ensure students are exposed to a breadth of perspectives on tax law."
—Reuven Avi-Yonah, Irwin I. Cohn Professor of Law and Director of the International Tax LLM Program
International Tax LLM Program
The International Tax LLM Program is designed for a select group of professionals and academics in tax law who wish to complement their legal knowledge and experience with in-depth studies of U.S. and international tax law and policy.
The program is directed by Professor Reuven S. Avi-Yonah and offers a full range of courses including basic tax, corporate tax, partnership tax, international tax, and public finance. Students in the International Tax LLM Program can fulfill the program requirements as well as the required courses to sit for the NY bar exam after graduation from the program.
The main difference between Michigan's program and similar programs at other law schools is its size: our selective program is designed for a small group of four to 10 outstanding students. Students receive more individual attention than in larger programs, allowing for close contact with faculty, as well as opportunities to interact with fellow students of different primary interests.
Since 2002, we have placed 43 graduates in desirable positions at top law and accounting firms in the United States and abroad. The graphic at right indicates the firms in which our graduates have been placed domestically.
The remaining 16 students are either students in the SJD program or are working in law or accounting firms or for tax administration in their home country.
