Xiaomeng "Alex" Zhang, JD, MSI, MA, is a senior associate librarian (reference and foreign and comparative law) at the University of Michigan Law Library. She manages and supervises the reference and information desk services and provides reference, research, and bibliographic instruction services in all areas of law and for all jurisdictions. As the senior foreign and comparative law librarian, she selects and reviews both print and electronic legal materials specializing in non-U.S. jurisdictions and chairs the Law Library's Approval Plan Committee. She chairs the Asian American Law Librarians Caucus and serves on the Executive Board of the Chinese-American Forum on Legal Information and Law Libraries. She is the incoming vice-chair/chair-elect of the American Association for Law Libraries' Foreign, Comparative and International Law Special Interest Section. She is also a member of the State Bar of New York.

Her research interests include public access to legal information, legal research methods and methodology, and Chinese law and research. Her articles have appeared in journals such as Legal Information Management, Law Library Journal, International Journal of Legal Information, and Chinese Journal of Comparative Law. She is a peer reviewer of Reference Reviews (Emerald) and serves as the China country editor for Foreign Law Guide (Brill). She was part of the New York University–U.S. Asia Law Institute's translation team for the project of translating China's 2013 Criminal Procedure Law into English. Her translations also appear in Beida Fabao Xinxiwang Wencui [ChinaLawInfo Digest] and Tan Pan [The Chinese-English Journal on Negotiation] (forthcoming). ​
