Gary Ballesteros is vice president, law, for Rockwell Automation. Responsible for the company’s litigation, Ballesteros has been instrumental in bringing down the costs of litigation while still providing a robust legal defense. He also oversees the Records Management function, the Environmental and Safety organization, and the Product Safety organization and works closely with those groups to practice preventative law to avoid issues before they rise into litigation. Prior to taking his current role in 2006, he was the company’s first director of the Global Compliance Office. Before joining Rockwell in 1997, he was a partner with the law firm of Jenner & Block in Chicago, and also served as an officer in the Judge Advocate General Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve. Ballesteros serves as the company’s representative on the Civil Justice Reform Group. He is on the board of directors of the Alliance for the Great Lakes and serves as an adjunct professor of law at Marquette University Law School. He received his BS, cum laude, from the University of Illinois in 1985 and his JD, cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School in 1988.
