Anna Nicol is an adjunct clinical assistant professor of law and the coordinator for the Geneva Externship Program at the University of Michigan Law School. She has extensive experience assisting law students in both an advisory and administrative capacity, regularly counseling students on careers with international organizations, and helping students find meaningful and practical opportunities to complement their academic work.

In her capacity as the Geneva coordinator, Nicol places Michigan Law students as externs at leading international, governmental, and nongovernmental institutions in Geneva for an academic semester. Nicol maintains an extensive network of relationships with these organizations on behalf of the Law School and works closely with the students and organizations throughout the externships.

Before moving to Switzerland in 2008, Nicol served as the director of the Office of Career Services (OCS) at Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC. She started her tenure at OCS in 2002 as a counselor and assistant director in charge of programming.

From 1998 to 2002, Nicol practiced as a litigator at Long, Aldridge & Norman (now McKenna Long & Aldridge) in Washington, DC. While at that firm, she also managed the Washington, DC, office’s summer associate program, served as a mentor for young associates, coordinated pro bono training for its attorneys, and was an active volunteer for the Washington, DC, Bar Pro Se Plus Divorce Clinic.
