Welcome to Student Affairs

The Office of Student Affairs provides academic and personal support to law students through counseling, programming, and other resources. Both David Baum and Christine Gregory provide personal counseling to students and academic counseling to current and prospective students on various Curriculum Interest Areas available to pursue during matriculation at the University of Michigan Law School.

David Baum
Assistant Dean and senior manager of Student Affairs
In his role as Assistant Dean and Senior Manager of Student Affairs, David Baum (dbaum@umich.edu) is responsible for the following areas of student life at the Law School: administration of the Academic Standards Committee; interpretation of academic regulations; Anatomy of a Case Talk Series; course advising and related programming; crisis intervention; disabled student services; grievances; health insurance; Orientation program; referrals to Law School, University, and community resources; safety issues; Service Day; sexual harassment complaints; and special examinations. Dean Baum's office is supported by Marilyn Genoa (marilyng@umich.edu).

Dean Baum also oversees the administration of the Registrar's Office. View registration instructions, academic calendars, course schedules and descriptions, as well as other important information online. Registration forms can also be downloaded from this area.

Christine Gregory
Assistant Dean for Student Affairs

Ms. Gregory, (crsgreg@umich.edu), the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, supervises a multitude of programs, including externships, dual degrees, moot court competitions, tutoring, and programs designed to provide peer support to first-year students. The office also serves as an administrative liaison to student organizations within the Law School. Additionally, Dean Gregory oversees enforcement of the Law School disciplinary code, posting policy, and alcohol policy. Students are encouraged to meet with Dean Gregory on a wide variety of issues including course advising, crisis intervention, grievances, the Law School environment, special examinations, and community resources. The office is supported by Trudy Feldkamp (tfeldkam@umich.edu) and Mark Gebhart (mgebhart@umich.edu).
